Acclaimed as one of the most original of the wave of 60s espionage/secret agent series, Mission: Impossible debuted with little fanfare, but gained one of the most loyal follwings in TV history. Twenty eight digitally remastered episodes from the series' premiere season have been collected for this 7-disc set. With a cast headed by Martin Landau, Barbara Bain (who would win an Emmy for her work on the series) and Greg Morris—in what was, at the time, a breakout role for an African-American actor—these globetrotting tales of daring rescues, of outwitting criminal masterminds and, generally, saving the world involved some of the most creative plotlines ever. Audiences thrilled to all the mystery, suspense, elaborate disguises and high-tech equipment. Trivia fans take note: in its first season, the IMF was headed by Steven Hill, who would leave the show and be replaced by Peter Graves for the rest of the series' run. The show ruled CBS’ Saturday night from ‘66-’73, and has spawned three big-screen adaptations. Rediscover why.
